We are excited to welcome Julia DiCristofaro as the newest foundation team member! Julia recently graduated from Binghamton University and joins us in the role of case manager. She has previously spent time volunteering with numerous nonprofit organizations including Identity, Catholic Charities Food Pantry, and Planned Parenthood Votes.

Julia volunteered as a program coordinator, pairing various institutions with educational speakers on topics related to personal and professional development. Her previous experience increased her passion of working in the nonprofit sector. We were able to ask Julia a few questions. Here’s what she had to say.

What led you to The Milestone Foundation?

I was looking for a position that would have a tangible impact on the community served, as well as a company that aligned with my values. I appreciate the innovative nature of The Milestone Foundation and how this organization does not follow the predatory status quo of other settlement loan companies. I also really loved the workplace culture and opportunities for growth within the foundation!

You’ve just graduated from Binghamton University – what’s your degree? What do you ultimately want to do as a career?

I received my BS in Human Development, Master’s in Public Administration, and my Nonprofit Management Certification all from Binghamton University. Ultimately, my goal is to become an executive director of a nonprofit.

What role has taught you an unexpected skill?

In the past, I worked as a server and janitor. Those roles taught me the importance of customer service and how to adapt to unexpected changes.

Tell us something unique about your hobbies.

I was obsessed with Project Runway as a kid and went to Fashion Camp in fourth grade. Now I spend my free time painting, baking, and practicing yoga. I also have a major sweet tooth! When I get the opportunity, I love to travel. My favorite places so far have been France and Turks and Caicos. My goal is to eventually visit all 50 states.

What do you like most about living and working in Buffalo?

I was born and raised in Buffalo. I didn’t fully appreciate the food here until I was away for five years while attending college. So for sure, I appreciate the food – specifically our pizza!
