Over the past few months, The Milestone Foundation has seen an uptick in requests for low-interest funding from plaintiffs involved in the Essure multidistrict litigation (MDL) and Roundup MDL. With funding of settlements being delayed overall because of COVID-19, many people – who should have received their settlement by now – have not received it yet, and they need help making ends meet in the meantime.
Second loan requests
In some cases, plaintiffs who have previously received funding from The Milestone Foundation are reaching out again in desperation and are asking for a second loan because they have reached the end of their rope. Even though they know their funds are on the way, they need more to get by. The Milestone Foundation, in most cases, does not give second loans to plaintiffs; we feel it is our mission to help as many people as possible. In the instances that we cannot provide funding, we do our best to help those in a desperate situation find another organization that may be able to help them.
The Numbers
More than 15 Roundup plaintiffs and more than 30 Essure plaintiffs who have applied for funding from The Milestone Foundation. We have been able to fund 11 of those with Roundup cases and 24 with Essure cases, totaling more than $120,000 in funding to people across the United States.
